If you are new to Moonlight Massacre:
Moonlight Massacre is an original forum based roleplay set in Orlando, Florida and centering around the interactions of vampires, werewolves, and humans. Currently, it has an active user base of 5 users with over 1,400 posts in 100 topics, and has been running since 26 January, 2009, surviving the collapse of two vampire\werewolf RPG forums under different administration before itself. We are always looking for new members, and can usually approve a completed application and open a roleplay thread (or reply to theirs should they wish to initiate it) in under a day from the time the application has been posted.
The forum itself can accommodate threads in any setting, from downtown Orlando to the suburbs, wooded areas and parks, to anywhere in the world (in a vacation forum). We also have a section to allow members to explore areas of their characters' pasts or past lives in order to help you better come to know your character. Also, should you need a break, we have both games forums and general talk forums as well as a flash based chat box that you can rest in and talk with our friendly community.
Though our main plot is based around the struggles between a vampire run mob and a werewolf run security firm, we will happily accommodate any subplot, within reason, that you might want to play. The world is the limit, and anything that doesn't put other characters in danger that their player doesn't want them to be in is allowed.
Finally, we are a 'Mature' community, which is to say that by default, both graphical violence and intimacy is allowed. Should a member be uncomfortable with either one of those, however, they will always be give the courtesy of not being forced to play those types of scenes.
The Plot:
Orlando, Florida, used to be a peaceful city. In days past its many attractions would bring in families from across the world to spend their vacation at the many amusement parks, restaurants, and stores the likes of which couldn't be found anywhere else in the world. By night downtown would be packed with the crowds filing into one of various clubs and lounges. One such lounge, called the Crimson Lounge, opened in the year 2019, in the second floor of an abandoned grain warehouse, and quickly became popular among the night crowd. With the opening of the club though, came the end of the peaceful days of Orlando.
In the year 2021, a year and a half after the opening of the Crimson Lounge, the number of murders in the city tripled. People were regularly being found dead in the streets, in their homes, and even in clubs, all except for the Crimson Lounge. At first, however, the murders were beneficial. Drug dealers, suspected rapists, and all manner of scum from the streets were being wiped clean out of the city, and in an act of folly the police did nothing to catch their killers. In their eyes, these new people were doing what they couldn't: cleaning up the streets of Orlando. If they jailed a drug dealer, he'd be out by morning, but now, the drug lords seemed to be quickly turning into a thing of the past. It wasn't until the year 2025 that they realized just how wrong they were. By then, rumors of a mob called the Nightlords ran rampant in the streets. Business owners were being forced to pay protection or were killed. The first such business was Valentine's Little Italy, an Italian restaurant. The city of Orlando cried out for help to anybody that would listen, but they were sure that they were far too late.
In response to their cry, a national security firm, Darkmoon Security, opened its doors in the Orlando area in 2026. In their despiration, the city gladly signed a contract with the firm, with little regard to what they had to agree to in order to gain the firm's help. Over the course of the next two years, any business that wanted protection from the Nightlords opened a contract with Darkmoon Security, and the city became split between the two groups. Slowly, the fighting ground to a stalemate, and for a short time the city knew peace once again. In recognition of this new group, the Crimson Lounge, in which not one murder had been committed over the years, changed its name to the Crimson Moonlight Lounge. They were the few that knew the truth, that two groups, the Vampire Nightlords and the Werewolf Darkmoon Group, were vying for control of the city, tired of being forced to live in the shadows for fear of being lynched by the ignorant masses.
The shaky peace shattered in the beginning of the year 2029, when three top city officials had their throats ripped out right under the noses of the Darkmoon Security Group. In retaliation, an entire Nightlord run club was killed and set ablaze, in what was dubbed the Moonlight Massacre. The city fell into complete chaos, and the fighting started with a new fervor, old tensions being lit up like never before between the two groups. Because of the ties they had, the Security Group was idolized for fighting the mob, but the truth is that there was no good or evil in the battle, only two groups fighting for power, with the humans caught in the middle. Which side will you take? Will you fight with your own kind, turn traitor and fight against your own people, or will you just pretend that nothing is wrong and try to live your life without being killed? Just remember, under the moon, not even your blood can buy you protection.
